Carolyn began teaching Hatha yoga in 2003 in the Chicago area and found that as she pursued continuing education as a yoga teacher that the Iyengar yoga classes were challenging and very helpful. In the beginning, she studied with Gabriel Halpern, Kathleen Wright, and Sharon Carter. As she was moving to Durham, NC, in 2017, Sharon Carter said, "look for your Iyengar yoga studios," and she found Graham Williams and took Yoga Teacher Training workshops with Dean and Rebecca Lerner in Lemont, PA, and with Aretha Blevins in Nashville, TN. Carolyn became a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher in 2021 and has continued to teach at NW Cary YMCA, FARM in Chapel Hill, and Fendol Farms (55+ community) in east Durham, NC. Carolyn has been teaching on Zoom since November 2020. As a grandparent, Carolyn found that yoga has always helped with the ability to interact with small children in their play space, and yoga has provided ways to work on stiffness from sitting. During the pandemic, Carolyn took online classes with Lois Steinberg to learn how to adapt to knee, shoulder, neck, lower back, and other health issues. Carolyn has completed adaptive yoga sessions with Lois for two years now. Carolyn cares for small grandkids three days a week, teaches yoga in person and online three days a week, and continues her education with Graham, Rebecca, and Abhijata.
